Apollonia Kotero

Patricia Apollonia Kotero was an American singer and model from the United States. Kotero was also a co-star in Prince's 1984 film Purple Rain. Her most well-known role was co-starring in Prince's 1984 film Purple Rain and for having been the lead singer of the girl group Apollonia 6. The 1980s saw the actress-singer Prince named Apollonia to be one of many female artists to gain from their association with Prince. Patricia Kotero, born 1959 in Santa Monica California began her career as an actress and model. The latter part of the 70s was when she appeared on CHiPS. She was the lead female for Prince's Purple Rain in 1984 (at when he was changing the name of her). In the same year, she was replaced by Vanity as a member of the group Vanity 6 as well as performed alongside the group under the title Apollonia 6 in the film. Sex Shooter was only a small hit for the group, however, she had an even bigger impact as Prince's duet partner in Take Me with You on the soundtrack. Kotero ended her relationship with Prince when they fell out about the fate of Apollonia 6. Kotero went on to be featured in several minor films during the time (reportedly declining to appear as a character in The Purple Rain follow-up Under the Cherry Moon) before landing an appearance on the evening-time show Falcon Crest during 1985-1986. Apollonia made her debut in 1988 but the fairly pedestrian set of dance and R&B songs did not impress the music-buying public and soon the album vanished from sight. During the following decade, she continued to work as an actress (if somewhat under the radar) as well as a couple of television roles, films and an exercise video. Apollonia recorded a Spanish/English Album entitled Stay with Me in 1997. Then, she went back to school and earned the degree of filmmaker. In addition, she founded her own production firm. Apollonia holds a number of jobs. She is a former model, singer-actress as well as a talent management manager. Purple Rain, the 1984 film in which she appeared was her most well-known role.
