Hudson was born in Los Angeles, California, the daughter of Academy Award-winning actress Goldie Hawn and Bill Hudson, an actor, comedian and musician.Her parents separated when she was just 18 months old . She and her older brother who was an actor, Oliver Hudson, were raised in Snowmass, Colorado, and Pacific Palisades, California by her mother as well as her mother's long-time lover actor Kurt Russell.Hudson's ancestry is Italian (from her maternal grandmother), Hungarian Jewish (from her maternal grandmother),and the rest are a mix of English and some German.She was raised Jewish; like her mother, she also practices Buddhism.Hudson has said that her biological father "doesn't know me through a hole in the wall" and she regards Russell as her father.Hudson has stated that her mother is "the one I've learned the most from, and whom I admire and who has led her life in a way that I can emulate". [14] She has four brothers and sisters: Zachary Hudson and Emily Hudson, her father's biological second marriage to actress Cindy Williams; Lalania Hudson and Wyatt Russell, her mother's relationship with Wyatt Russell, her mother's. She was accepted to New York University but decided to pursue acting instead of getting a degree.
